SG57: National Day Activities for the Family

By Chan Hoi Ki on 28/07/2022

Singapore’s 57th National Day is drawing near, what are some of the activities you can expect to enjoy with your family? Besides the obvious option of scoring the exclusive tickets to the parade by ballot – this one’s for families who did not obtain the tickets or wish to take part in the festivities over the weekend prior to the actual celebration.

This year’s celebration will definitely feel a stark contrast as compared to the previous 2 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the great relaxation of regulations starting this year, celebrations are mostly back in full swing and live!

NDP @ Heartlands

On 6 & 7 August, there are 5 carnival sites islandwide in Singapore filled with family-friendly activities, exhibitions, musical and dance performances, along with a display of assets by the SAF and Home Team.

The carnivals are a ticketed event, so if they happen to be in your neighbourhood – check them out here!

  • Central Singapore (Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, Ficus Green): 6 Aug 22 (Sat), 4pm to 9pm
  • North East (Punggol Open Field beside Waterway Point): 6 Aug 22 (Sat), 4pm to 9pm
  • North West (Open Space next to Sembawang MRT Station): 6 Aug 22 (Sat), 4pm to 9pm
  • South West (Open Field next to Buona Vista MRT Station): 6 Aug 22 (Sat), 4pm to 9pm
  • South East (Wisma Geylang Serai): 7 Aug 22 (Sun), 4pm to 9pm

On 7 August, the Red Lions will be performing free-fall jumps over 2 heartland locations:

  • Beside Bishan MRT: 7 Aug 22, 8:40am to 9:30am
  • Opposite Ghim Moh Market: 7 Aug 22, 9:10am to 10:00am

The above event is free and non-ticketed, so if you also happen to be in the area it will definitely be a rare treat to see!

On the actual day of celebrations on 9 August, there will be a total of 5 heartland locations where the fireworks will be released.

  • Central Singapore: Open Field beside Ang Mo Kio Library
  • North East: Old Tampines Junior College
  • North West: Woodlands Stadium
  • South West: Jurong West Stadium
  • South East: Bedok Stadium

Entry into these stadiums begins from 6pm onwards and is subject to capacity limits. Fireworks are estimated to be released between 8.15PM to 8.25PM.

National Day Fiesta @ Singapore Sports Hub

Singapore Sports Hub is hosting a line of activities on 9 August leading up to the finale of the fireworks display, free admission of course! The exclusive limited edition NDP pack is also available up for grabs for all participants too, while stocks last!

There are several fun and interactive old-school carnival activities (with a twist!) suitable for families and kids starting from 9am.

There are also 2 sessions (registration required for either 11.30AM & 12.30PM) of dance workout activity to sweat it out! The most creative outfits suiting the NDP theme also stands a chance to win prizes.

A scavenger hunt themed activity named “Amazing Sport Heritage 5+7 Challenge” has 3 sessions in total (registration required) where a group of 2 to 5 is required to complete tasks and unlock clues in the vicinity and get rewarded with an exclusive memento token!

Lastly at 5PM, the finale event begins with the live telecast of the NDP at OCBC Square and Stadium Roar. The location also has its own stunning fireworks display along the Stadium Riverside Walk!

Nonetheless, we wish you a fantastic National Day celebration to you and your family!
